Interview mit The Atomistics

Diane Arbus im/ exhibits at Martin Gropius Bau

Hallo Welt, hallo Berlin, eingesperrt bei strömendem Regen bei dem man eher einen Schwimmanzug braucht anstelle einer Regenjacke und ein Boot anstelle der Gummistiefel wollte ich diesen Moment nutzen um euch von Diane Arbus zu erzählen.

Ich persönlich (Koko schreibt) kannte sie garnicht namentlich und bin gestern zusammen mit Nino einfach in die Austellung, die gerade im Martin -Gropius Bau stattfindet, reingegangen. S/W Photografie zwischen den 1950gern bis 1971. Sujet: das Skurile im Normalen und alle möglichen Formen von "Randgestalten der Gesellschaft".

Großartige, berührende und teilweise verstörende Bilder, geschossen von einer Frau die im prüden Amerika der 30ger und 40ger aufwuchs (1923 geboren). Begeisternd mutig und hellsichtig stellt sie die Frage nach Norm und überlässt uns, den Betrachtern, die Antwort.

Fazit: Sehr sehenswert, auch aus ästhetischen Gesichtspunkten, das Flair der Zeit schwingt aus den Bildern hinaus. Ich bin nachhause gegangen und dachte wieder mal: Musik machen, Kunst machen, ein freies, selbsbestimmtes Leben führen und versuchen ehrlich und real zu sein ist Lebenszweck der mit Geld und Gütern nicht bezahlt werden kann.

Hello world, hello Berlin, imprisoned at home because of the pouring rain that makes you feel like you need a diving suit and a gummiboat instead of raincoat and gummiboots I use the time to tell you about Diane Arbus.

I personally (Koko writes) didn´t knew the name (though I recognized some of the pictures) Diane Arbus. Yesterday Nino and me just went to the exhibition of her work at Martin Gropius Bau/ Berlin spontaneuously. We discovered black/white photography that she took between the 1950ties and 1971 (she commited suicide by then). Subject: the  bizarre in the so called "normal" and all kind of people on the edge/ margin of society.

Very touching, inspiring and as well distracting pictures, takes by a women who grew up in the prudish America of the 30ties and 40ties. Very brave and ahead of her time she questions the "normal" and leaves the visitor to answer it to himself.....

We went home and were shure that a selfdefined, honest and real life can´t be paid out with money and goods! long live music, long live arts, long life freedomof mind.

Uuuuuund: tataaaaa, inspiriert von soooo toller s/w Photografie haben Nino und ich selber ein paar Versuvhe an der kamera gewagt. sicher, digital, also nicht vergleichbar im Bezug auf die Arbeit mit dem medium, aber die Bilder sind gelungen:)

Bei der Suche nach einem neuen Bandname kam ich auf die Idee: Freak Flag, was ich, Koko, persönlich als etwas positiv konotiertes empfinde. Im U.S.- amerikanischen Sprachgebrauch ist das Wort aber eher eine Beleidigung. Im Rahmen meiner Suche im Internet bin ich auch die oben verlinkte Website gestossen....Hört sich cool an....Der Bandname ist schon besetzt, aber meine Suche war erfolgreich.

As I was looking for an optional new bandname I came up with the idea Freak Flag, referring to Jimi Hendrix of course.  I really like the word "freak" , and to me it always had a positive connotation, but as I learned in american englisch it´s more used as a negativ expression.
As I was browsing the name to see if another band already came up with the same idea I found the website that I linked on the beginning of the post....I found as well that there exists a band with that name: Freak Flag, but anyway it my research made me find that Freak-Page....lucky me:))))

Have a look, it´s very amusing and empowering. we got to hold the freak flag high, otherwise we will die beeing bored with ourselves......

Why do we have to fly our freak flags high?

Let me share with you the Freak Flag Manifesto:

1. Freaks are, by definition, different.
2. Different is good.
3. “Freak” should be a compliment, not an insult.
4. Everyone is a freak in some way, in some place, to someone. “Normal” is a myth. Diversity is strength.
5. We all need to discover, honor and celebrate our freaky bits by “flying our freak flags high”.
6. We are each more happy and successful when we embody ALL that we are.
7. If you “speak your freak”, you can release and heal from shame, embarrassment or fear of social disapproval and be more active, powerful and effective in the world.
8. We gotta be freaky together: the more we see each others' freaky proclamations, the more we'll find powerful, meaningful connections and alliances--some familiar, some potentially new and surprising.
9. If we can fully appreciate our own selves, we can also appreciate others; and once we can appreciate others, we can start working together in an honest and powerful way to build the kind of world and the kind of future we all want to live in.
10. Freaks can change the world just by being themselves.

Hallo ihr Lieben,

dies ist also der erste Bloggeintrag der Band The Atomistics. Wir haben uns für den Blogg anstatt einer Website entschieden um interaktiv mit euch zu kommunizieren.

Mit dem Blog wollen wir Gedanken über unserer Musik, unsere Philosophie,unsern Einflüssen klarer machen und hoffen so euch besser erreichen und einbinden zu können. 

Bestenfalls schaffen wir es 2 mal die Woche Geschichten/ Photos/ Songtexte oder Videos zu posten.

Alle in der Band sind Vegetarier, wir lieben Schmetterlinge und 8 stündige Bergwanderungen ohne Wasser, nach denn man sich nackt in den Bergbach schmeißt und danach ein kaltes Bierchen zischt.....ja, so stellen wir und die Zelebrierung des Heute und jetzt vor.

The Atomistics: Urban Psychedelic Rock Soul from Berlin!

Backing the guitar & vocal/bass power duo is Cosmo Cadar from Transylvania. With him keeping the beat with modern rock drive The Atomistics traverses styles from funk, beat to pop art experiments.
